Change is inevitable. Appointments are rescheduled, procedures are added or removed, and providers are added or updated. Fortunately, Dentrix tracks each time a change is made to an appointment, recording what was changed, when it was changed, and — if passwords are enabled — by whom.
Watch this video to learn how to view an appointment’s history. (Duration 0:37)
Additional Tips
- If an appointment has never been modified, the History button is disabled.
- As a reference, the original appointment date is displayed in the Created date field.
- If Dentrix passwords are enabled, the staff IDs are listed as the person(s) who made the change(s).
- Dentrix adds an entry to the appointment history when you perform any of the following functions:
- Move or break an appointment
- Move an appointment to the Unscheduled List
- Remove an appointment from the Pinboard but do not reschedule it
- Change an appointment’s status
- Move an appointment to a new date, time, and/or operatory
- Change an appointment’s length
- To learn more about viewing appointment history, read Viewing Appointment Histories in Dentrix Help.
Check Your Knowledge

- Switch to the Dentrix demo database.
(Skip this step if you are using the Dentrix Learning Edition software.) - Schedule a new-patient appointment or schedule one for an existing patient.
- Make any changes you like by selecting the appointment and moving it, changing the time, operatory, length, etc.
- Now, view the appointment’s history and note how the information has changed.
