Scheduling a New-Patient Appointment

Topic Progress:

When perspective new patients contact your office, you can create a record for them in Dentrix with a “New Patient” status. With this record, you can edit their information as if they were a patient of record, collect health history, add notes to their file, verify insurance eligibility, and send them forms requests. Later, when you complete their appointment, their record will automatically be updated to reflect their Patient status.

Additional Tips

  • In the Appointment Book, new appointments are identified by “NP” in the upper left-hand corner of the appointment.
  • If new patients fail to show up for their first visits and don’t reschedule, you can “Break” the appointment. Later, you can use the Unscheduled New Patients list to find and manage new patients with broken appointments.

If you have access to Dentrix, check your knowledge with this exercise.
