Posting a Pre-Authorization Estimate

Topic Progress:

After the insurance company has received your request for pre-authorization, they will send back an estimate of what they will pay on the procedure(s). You can enter this estimate so that Dentrix will calculate the patient portion of the procedures before you begin treatment. Posting a pre-authorization estimate is similar to posting a payment on a regular claim.

Additional Tips

  • Pre-authorization estimate claims appear in the Treatment Plan view of the Ledger.
  • When you complete the treatment-planned procedure for which you had received a pre-authorization estimate, Dentrix automatically enters the pre-authorization estimate number on the claim. If you complete multiple procedures that are assigned to different pre-authorization numbers (or not attached to a pre-authorization at all), Dentrix will create multiple insurance claims for each procedure’s pre-authorization.
