Entering Deductibles Met and Benefits Used

Topic Progress:

When a new patient comes to your office, they may have been treated by another provider or specialist earlier in their insurance plan’s year. If so, the patient probably received insurance benefits or met their insurance deductible at that other office. For Dentrix to correctly calculate insurance estimates, you must record these amounts in your patient’s insurance information.

Watch the following video to learn how to enter deductibles met and benefits used. (Duration 1:25)

Additional Tips

  • If you refer patients to a specialist for certain procedures, you can also use the Edit Deductibles Met/Benefits Used tab to record the insurance benefits applied for the work completed by the “Referred To” dentist.
  • To enter deductibles met and/or benefits used from a patient’s Ledger, the patient must have a current insurance claim or a pre-authorization estimate in their Ledger. Otherwise, you can only make the changes from the patient’s Family File.
  • To learn more about entering deductibles met and benefits used from a patient’s Family File, read Editing Deductibles and Maximums in Dentrix Help.
