Changing the Head of House for a Family

Topic Progress:

There are times when the responsible party or guarantor for a family changes. You can easily change a family’s guarantor (the head of house) in the Family File.

Watch this video to learn how to change the head of house for a family. (Duration 0:22)

Additional Tips

  • When you change the head of house, Dentrix reassigns all guarantor transactions in the Ledger to the new head of house. This does not result in an account balance change unless you also remove a patient from the account.
  • Important definitions:
    • Head of House or Guarantor – The family member who is financially responsible for their Family File’s account.
    • Insurance Subscriber – A person who subscribes to an insurance policy, which can also be assigned to other members of any Family File. To do so, the subscriber must also be a member of the Family File in which the insurance is assigned to another “family” member. There can be more than one subscriber in a family, the subscriber can be a member of more than one Family File, and the subscriber does not need to be the head of house (guarantor).
