If a patient’s insurance coverage changes, it’s essential to update the subscriber’s coverage in their Family File and the coverage for any dependents covered by the same insurance. This will ensure that you’re sending claims to the correct insurance company.

Additional Tips
- Primary insurance must be assigned to the subscriber before it can be assigned to their dependent(s).
- The subscriber does not have to be a patient to provide insurance coverage for a dependent(s).
- For complicated family situations, Dentrix includes a dependent status of Other, in addition to Married, Single, and Child.
- To link dependents to medical insurance, instead of dental insurance, switch to the Medical Insurance tab.
