Setting Up Insurance Claim Information

Topic Progress:

When you submit claims, would you like all of your claims to be submitted with one dentist as the billing provider, or to always display the patient’s preferred provider? Or, perhaps you want to submit the name of the practice instead of a provider’s name. Dentrix allows you to set up such default information to print on your insurance claims.

Watch the following video to learn how to set up insurance claim information. (Duration 1:04)

Additional Tips

  • Only primary providers appear on a claim. If a claim contains only secondary providers, the patient’s Prov1 will be submitted on the claim.
  • Throughout Dentrix, providers are also known by the following terms:
    • Billing Providers: The “Billing Dentist” or the “Dental Entity”.
    • Rendering Providers: The “Treating Dentist”.
    • Pay-To Providers: Are similar to Billing Provider, but are used in electronic insurance submissions.
  • New installations of Dentrix use the following claim provider default settings:
    • Billing Provider: Patient’s Prov1
    • Rendering Provider: Provider of Procedures
    • Pay-To-Provider: Patient’s Prov1
  • When using the Name to use for Provider option, only the name will be substituted on the claim submission, and the other fields will use the selected provider’s information, such as their address, NPI number, Tax ID number, etc.
