Deleting an Insurance Plan

Topic Progress:

Do you have many insurance plans in the Dentrix that you no longer use because carriers merged with other carriers or you no longer participate with their plans? You can delete (purge) them from the insurance database, so they’re no longer an existing option for you to choose.

Watch the following video to learn how to delete an insurance plan. (Duration 0:55)

Additional Tips

  • You can select multiple plans by holding down the control key as you select additional plans.
  • If the plan that you want to delete does not appear in the list, it’s because at least one patient is still attached to that plan. You must clear the plan from all patients’ Family Files before you can delete it. To find the patient(s), print the Insurance Carrier List for that plan.
  • If a selected insurance plan has one or more outstanding claims (claims not in history), you will be warned, and you cannot delete it until every claim for that plan has processed into history. To view a report with outstanding claims for a specific plan, generate the Insurance Aging Report for that plan.
