Setting Up Time Blocks for Perfect Day Scheduling

Topic Progress:

Many practice management consultants advocate a strategy of scheduling the “perfect day.” A perfect day consists of just the right balance of high-, medium-, and low-production procedures. Dentrix helps you achieve this balance by allowing you to reserve certain times during the day to schedule specific procedure types that are high, medium, and low production.

Additional Tips

  • When you schedule an appointment in a defined time block, Dentrix checks both the provider and the appointment type to verify that they match the time block. If either the provider or the appointment type does not match, a warning appears that allows you to override the time block setting and schedule the appointment.
  • To help your procedures match your appointment block, assign the appropriate appointment type to the procedures in the Procedure Code Editor. To learn how, review the Mastery Tracks topic Editing a Procedure Code.
  • You can search by time block when you search for an available appointment using the Find New Appointment Time… option.
  • Your time blocks can also reserve places in your Appointment Book for things like emergency appointments and new patient consultations. However, these block types should only be a visual indicator and should not have a specific appointment type associated with it.
