Editing a Procedure Code

Topic Progress:

Dentrix comes pre-installed with procedures codes from the American Dental Association. However, there may be times when you need to edit a procedure code, update a fee, add a treatment flag, adjust the amount of time it takes to complete, or change how it displays in the Patient Chart. The Procedure Code Editor allows you to edit these codes to meet the needs of your office.

Watch this video to learn how to edit a procedure code. (Duration 0:55)

Additional Tips

  • When you edit procedure codes, the changes will display on all Dentrix networked workstations.
  • To move numerically from code to code (in the same category), click the Prev Code or Next Code buttons in the Procedure Code Editor dialog box. This feature makes it convenient to edit several codes without having to individually open, close, and then open another code.
  • For an explanation of the various fields and options within the Procedure Code Editor, and to learn more about editing a procedure code, read Editing ADA-CDT Dental Codes in Dentrix Help.

Check Your Knowledge

If you have access to Dentrix, check your knowledge with this exercise.

  1. Switch to the Dentrix demo database.
(Skip this step if you are using the Dentrix Learning Edition software.)
  2. Limited oral evaluations continually take longer than expected. Edit code D0140 by adding one unit of time to its Procedure Time.
