If you make a mistake when entering a prescription, such as prescribing it to the wrong person or entering the wrong medication, you can delete it from the Prescriptions module — but only if you haven’t yet printed the prescription for the patient.
Watch this video to learn how to delete prescriptions. (Duration 0:31)
Additional Tips
- You should never delete a Dentrix-generated prescription that has been printed and given to your patient.
- When a prescription is deleted, it is removed from the Patient Prescriptions list; however, an entry is added to the Audit Trail Report. The entry includes the prescription details, a note that the prescription has been deleted, and if passwords are enabled it will note the person logged in at the time of deletion.
- To learn more about deleting prescriptions, read Deleting Patient Prescriptions in Dentrix Help.
Check Your Knowledge
If you have access to Dentrix, check your knowledge with this exercise.
- Switch to the Dentrix demo database.
(Skip this step if you are using the Dentrix Learning Edition software.) - Select a patient for whom you’ve previously created a prescription.
- The most recent prescription was supposed to be for another patient with a similar name. Delete the prescription.
