Creating Future Due Payment Plans

Topic Progress:

Future due payment plans are used to apply monthly charges to accounts for work that is in progress, such as orthodontics, or for patients who want to pre-pay for expensive procedures, such as implants or crowns. Future due payment plans can be set up for individual patients and Dentrix tracks when to post charges for the plan.

Additional Tips

  • Future due payment plans are charged monthly. Keep this in mind when entering the number of charges for the plan.
  • A patient can have more than one future due payment plan; however, each plan can only be attached to a single provider. For example, a patient can have two future due payment plans — one with DDS1 and one with ORTHO — but he cannot have two future due payment plans with just DDS1. However, a guarantor can have multiple future due payment plans attached to various dependents and their providers.
  • To generate an insurance claim manually, deselect Auto Ins. Claim and Dentrix will not post charges to the account when future due payment plans are updated every month.
  • Even though Auto Charge is selected, you still need to run the Future Due Payment Plan Update task manually or as part of a monthly queue in the Task Scheduler.
