Adding an Operatory

Topic Progress:

Operatories are often selected when scheduling appointments. For instance, specific operatories are often utilized by particular providers, and patients are typically scheduled into those operatories for the provider they need to see. By default, Dentrix has three predefined operatories for scheduling appointments; however, you can add more operatories as needed for your practice.

Additional Tips

  • The Appointment Book displays operatories alphanumerically by ID, across the top of the scheduling blocks.
  • Dentrix comes pre-set with the following default operatories: OP-1, OP-2, and OP-3.
  • Each operatory can optionally be assigned a title, such as a provider (DDS1, ENDO, HYG1, etc.) who utilizes a specific operatory. (The title displays in the Select Operatory window of a patient’s Appointment Information dialog box.)
  • Operatory IDs are limited to four alphanumeric characters, and each ID must be unique. Once you create an operatory ID, you cannot edit it; however, you can delete it, which is NOT recommended, as it can leave Dentrix in an unstable condition if the operatory is attached to a provider or an appointment.
