Setting Up and Editing Continuing Care Types

Topic Progress:

Continuing care types control the interval, the provider, and the time required for recurring procedures. Dentrix comes with several default continuing care types to help you recall your patients more effectively; however, you can edit them or add new ones to meet the needs of your office.

Additional Tips

  • You can modify continuing care types for individual patients in the Family File. If you edit an individual’s settings, the default continuing care settings in the Office Manager no longer apply. The changes affect those patient’s appointments scheduled after the edit.
  • You can only attach one continuing care type to a procedure code. Therefore, do not create multiple continuing care types (for example, Prophy 3M, Prophy 4M, and/or Prophy 6M). If you do, the due dates for all but one of the types won’t reset when you post D1110 or D1120.
  • You can delete a continuing care type if you have not attached it to any patients or appointments.
