Adding and Editing a New Continuing Care Status

Topic Progress:

You can use continuing care statuses in the Continuing Care List to indicate the last contact your office had with a patient regarding their upcoming continuing care visit or their overdue continuing care. You can also customize these statuses to support the way your office manages continuing care.

Additional Tips

  • By default, Dentrix comes with the following continuing care statuses (with their abbreviations and meanings):
    • AptSCh – Appointment Scheduled
    • NotHom – Not at Home, Call Again
    • CalBK – Call Back, Not Ready
    • CallUs – Patient Will Call Us
    • SndCrd – Do Not Call, Send a Card
    • CCSet – Continuing Care Set
  • Continuing care statuses can be changed, deleted, or added, but there is a limit of ten statuses.
  • Because continuing care statuses are set up in Dentrix as definitions in the Office Manager, Dentrix assigns the definition number to a patient, not the customizable description. Modifying the text description of a definition will change that definition for all patients to whom the definition has been assigned. For example, if several patients are assigned “2: NotHom: Not at Home, Call Again,” and status 2 is changed to “Confirmed by Text,” those patients previously assigned “2:NotHom” will still have status 2, but the status will now show as “Confirmed by Text” in the Continuing Care List.
  • While you have the option to delete a continuing care status, improperly deleting a status can leave your database in an unstable condition. Before deleting a status, try changing the existing definition to a new, more useful description. If it’s necessary to delete a status, first read Deleting Practice Definitions in Dentrix Help.
